WORKSHOPS

Extended class time for staging choreography; focused study with performance experience

Musical Theatre: The purpose of the musical theatre workshop is to expose students to a particular style of movement with an emphasis on building confidence in dance performance. Limited vocal work encouraged. Workshops are scheduled with extended class time which aids in staging choreography and in performance coaching. The last hour of the final class a student performance is held with family and guests invited to enjoy.

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP

For those desiring a short yet intensive training session; convenient for long distance students

Precision Dance/Drill Team Mock Audition: designed for dance/drill team candidates; students will learn a short jazz and kick combination and then perform it in small groups; each participant receives a hand written critique sheet; excellent preparation for dance/drill team candidates.

Officer Dance & Interview Training: designed specifically for officer candidates; dancers will prepare a short combination or entire solo to be critiqued by instructor; candidates will learn interview techniques and participate in a mock interview; excellent preparation for officer auditions.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Technique: Conditioning and stretching exercises combined with skills such as leaps, jumps, and turns.

Jazz: Technique, placement, alignment, control, and balance taught in a classical jazz style; across the floor work and a center combination shared in each class.

Tap: Develops rhythm, musicality and coordination; dancers will practice rhythmic patterns and combinations.

Dance/Drill Team Kick & Stretch Combo: a preparation class for dance/drill team candidates; high kick technique is taught with an emphasis on increasing strength, stamina, and flexibility through conditioning exercises.

Dance/Drill Team Jazz & Skills Combo: A preparation class for dance/drill team candidates; skills such as leaps, jumps, and turns are broken down and then combined in across the floor work; the skills are then incorporated into a precision jazz dance combination.

Turns in 2nd: All ability levels welcome; practice preparatory methods that will gradually build to the actual turn; basic mechanics will be demonstrated with emphasis on building strength in the ankles for relevé, and in the hip flexors for sustaining turn-out and holding the leg in second position; a variety of turn combinations will be shared.
